If you live in Idaho, register and vote on November 8: you can call to account Senator Mike Crapo who, over more than 20 years, has voted with the gun lobby and opposed every reasonable provision of gun safety protecting children. He voted against last June’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which was a response to public horror over the murders of innocents in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York. His record, back to 2005, shows him voting against proposals to limit the magazine capacity of the kind of weapons that have massacred hundreds of defenseless school children. He has blocked laws to prohibit the sale of assault weapons and deny firearms and explosives to dangerous terrorists. With the gun lobby he supported the Firearms Manufacturers Protection Bill.
Gun manufacturers and marketers, and their lobbyists, have a lock on the votes and power of nearly 40 U.S. Senators in Washington.
But our U.S. Constitution requires, every two years, one-third of the 100 U.S. Senators to stand for re-election. One-third - that’s 33 Senators who have blocked every reasonable and legal way to keep guns out of the hands of killers. The reason the Constitution requires that is to give voters a voice – a voice to evaluate and comment on their senators’ work over the six years of their senatorial terms (or longer).
Don't stand on the sidelines November 8. Take a stand for the lives of our school children and vote against Senator Crapo. Tell your friends, too.
