If you live in Kentucky, register and vote on November 8: you can call to account Senator Rand Paul, who voted against last June’s long-awaited legislative deal on gun safety that will take firearms away from dangerous people and provide billions of dollars in new mental health funding. Before its passage TV’s all-too-familiar Senator Soundbite, who has taken nearly $200,000 from the Gun Lobby, threatened to cripple the legislation with backsliders. Even his fellow Kentucky Senator and minority leader, Mitch McConnell, voted for the gun-control law.

Gun manufacturers and marketers, and their lobbyists, have a lock on the votes and power of nearly 40 U.S. Senators in Washington.

But our U.S. Constitution requires, every two years, one-third of the 100 U.S. Senators to stand for re-election. One-third -that’s 33 Senators who have blocked every reasonable and legal way to keep guns out of the hands of killers. The reason the Constitution requires that is to give voters a voice – a voice to evaluate and comment on their senators’ work over the six years of their senatorial terms (or longer).

Don't stand on the sidelines November 8. Take a stand for the lives of our school children and vote against Senator Rand Paul. Tell your friends, too.
